AVST UC Solutions Provide High Availability, Real-Time Performance and Lower Costs with MySQL

Applied Voice & Speech Technologies (AVST) is a 30‑year developer of unified communications software used by over 10,000 customers and 15 million users. To move from a monolithic FairCom C‑Tree design to a modular, multi‑server architecture, AVST needed a SQL replacement that was cost‑effective, easy for application engineers to use (eliminating a single‑developer bottleneck), and capable of strong replication, high availability and real‑time performance.

AVST chose MySQL for its lower cost and superior replication. Embedding MySQL removed database administration for customers, sped agile development and time‑to‑market, and enabled resilient multi‑site deployments and private‑cloud offerings. The solution handles roughly 65,000 new records daily (~24 million/year) with real‑time search, giving AVST the scalability, continuous availability and performance to compete with larger vendors and expand into new cloud markets.
