Case Study: Adresseavisen achieves high availability and proactive performance control with MySQL Enterprise

A MySQL Case Study

Preview of the Adresseavisen Case Study

Adresseavisen, Leading News Site in Norway, relies on MySQL Enterprise

Adresseavisen, Norway’s oldest newspaper and operator of adressa.no (launched 1998 with ~100,000 daily unique visitors), needed guaranteed uptime and redundancy for its high‑traffic news and services across the Polaris Media group. Sudden traffic spikes (for example city incidents or the annual tax search engine release) and the advertising‑dependent business model made reliability, availability and a strong price‑performance ratio critical requirements.

Adresseavisen subscribed to MySQL Enterprise and deployed MySQL Enterprise Server on Linux with Multi‑Master Replication and Linux Heartbeat, plus Enterprise Monitor and Oracle support. The monitoring and support tools enabled proactive trend reporting, better control of performance, security and risk, and the platform now supports 21 online publications (with more migrations planned) while handling heavy loads (sample: ~120 DB queries/sec per publication), improving availability and operational control.
