Cancer Trials Australia (CTA), a national not-for-profit that administers clinical trials across member hospitals, needed a better way to manage complex billing and reporting for more than 700 trials and around 25,000 transactions per trial each year. Its previous system could only produce lump-sum invoices, forcing staff to track detailed trial activity manually in spreadsheets and limiting transparency, automation, and scalability. CTA chose MYOB and MYOB Advanced to replace the local system with a more integrated, cloud-based financial platform.

MYOB implemented MYOB Advanced in a staged rollout, including customisations such as a billing management screen that pulls patient activity data from CTA’s line-of-business database, automates invoice creation, and posts journals to the general ledger. The result was much better data transparency, stronger data integrity, reduced manual work, and remote access for finance staff. Reporting that previously took two days now takes about one hour, and CTA can now produce detailed trial summaries and invoice data at the push of a button.
