Case Study: Alameda County Public Health Department reduces soda consumption with MyGroove Design’s Soda Free Summer campaign

A MyGroove Design, Inc. Case Study

Alameda County Public Health Department reduces soda consumption by 43% with MyGroove Design, Inc.

MyGroove Design, Inc. worked with the Alameda County Public Health Department to address the challenge of reducing soda consumption. The client needed to achieve measurable behavior change within Latino and African-American communities, moving beyond simple awareness to directly influence the health choices of adults, children, and families.

The solution implemented by MyGroove Design was a multi-channel campaign called "Soda Free Summer," which utilized community insight, influencer storytelling, experiential branding, and targeted content. A key insight was empowering children to influence adult behavior through materials like "Drink Water, Said the Otter" activity books. The results were significant, with 78% of county residents recalling the campaign, 72% reporting a behavior change, and 43% reducing soda consumption. The campaign was so successful that MyGroove Design helped expand it to five additional Bay Area counties and it was adopted as a national model.
