Local Government FCU needed a more precise way to measure and improve member financial health across its 350k+ membership and 250+ branches. To move beyond assumptions and quantify who was thriving or at risk, the credit union engaged MX Technologies, leveraging MX Catalyst consulting and MX’s Compass (MoneyMap) personal financial management tools to develop robust financial health scoring.

MX Technologies used a combination of an 86,000‑member financial health survey and a data analysis of 22,500 Compass users to score members into Vulnerable (24%), Coping (55.4%), and Healthy (20.6%) groups — revealing that 80% of members were financially unhealthy. With MX’s insights into spending, borrowing, savings and insurance behaviors, Local Government FCU can now target the 24% most vulnerable and deliver personalized outreach and offers to the 55% who are coping, enabling measurable, data-driven strategies to improve member financial wellness.
