First Citizens Bank wanted to give customers better personal financial management to help them reach financial goals and cement primary-financial-institution status. To do this it selected MX Technologies’ digital money management (DMM) capabilities as part of its new Manage My Money platform and chose to launch internally to its 5,000+ employees first to build awareness, generate advocates, and test adoption before a public rollout.

MX Technologies delivered DMM features including Single Sign-On (SSO), Insight & Target (I&T) and mobile app integration, and First Citizens ran a themed internal marketing campaign to drive usage. The internal launch saw 919 employees register in the first four days and 252 add at least one external account; the subsequent customer rollout attracted 125,000 users (27% of the bank’s customer base) in the first three months, prompting First Citizens to expand use of MX Technologies’ tools.
