A Mushroom Networks Case Study
East Wake Academy, a K-12 charter school of about 1,050 students, was hampered by unreliable Internet and limited computer access—one 6Mb DSL line was expected to serve 250 machines, causing daily outages and interrupted lessons. The school engaged Mushroom Networks and its Truffle device to solve bandwidth, reliability, and scalability challenges.
Mushroom Networks deployed the Truffle to bond one T‑1 and five 6Mb DSL lines (with fiber linking six buildings to the Truffle’s location), allowing East Wake to grow from 250 to 497 computers campus-wide, eliminate frequent downtime, and greatly improve classroom productivity. The Truffle was quick to set up, delivered sustained multi-year reliability, and enabled cost-effective scaling (additional DSL lines at roughly $75 each), giving the school affordable, resilient Internet service.
