Department Blandy At The University Of Virginia Deploys Truffle To Add Bandwidth Cost Effectively

The University of Virginia’s Blandy Experimental Farm needed to cost‑effectively increase Internet bandwidth and WAN reliability for researchers, students and campus services—legacy T1 links were unreliable and single‑provider options couldn’t meet demand. To address this, the team chose Mushroom Networks’ Truffle Internet bonding appliance (Broadband Bonding®) to boost capacity and add high‑availability while staying within budget.

Mushroom Networks deployed the Truffle to bond T1 and DSL (with optional 3G/4G) links into a single, faster, highly available WAN with seamless failover and advanced traffic controls. The deployment delivered a 13× increase in Internet speed, automated multi‑ISP failover that virtually eliminated outages, a full return on investment in several weeks, and simplified scalability along with QoS, traffic shaping and monitoring.
