A Murex Case Study
The National Bank of Canada (NBC), Canada’s sixth-largest commercial bank, needed to modernize and simplify its on-premises installation of Murex’s MX.3 platform, which ran across more than 100 servers. Deployments and upgrades were slow and resource-intensive—taking weeks or months—and NBC wanted to free IT staff to focus on business innovation while gaining clearer cost visibility.
Murex had certified MX.3 on AWS, enabling NBC to move non‑production MX.3 environments to Amazon EC2 (with Amazon EFS, EBS, and S3 for persistence and storage) and deploy from a menu of MX.3 images and snapshots. As a result of the Murex/AWS solution, NBC can spin up MX.3 instances in minutes instead of months (meeting requests for dozens of environments in a day), reassign the majority of a 20‑person server team to higher-value work, and achieve real-time cost visibility and pay‑per‑use savings.
