Momentum Metropolitan improves balance sheet performance by migrating and upgrading Murex MX.3 to AWS in just 9 months

Momentum Metropolitan, a South African financial services group, faced a complex upgrade and capacity-planning challenge for its Murex MX.3 risk platform: upgrading from MX.3 v3.1.28 to 3.1.41 while eliminating the risk and cost of on‑premises over‑ or under‑provisioning and gaining the elasticity needed for compute‑intensive risk analytics and faster end‑of‑day processing. The vendor and product involved were Murex and its MX.3 platform, and Momentum chose to replatform the ecosystem to AWS to access on‑demand infrastructure and new functionality.

Working with Murex (and partners Elenjical Solutions and AWS), Momentum Metropolitan upgraded, migrated and replatformed MX.3 to AWS in nine months, on time and on budget. The move delivered measurable impact: capacity and performance increased fivefold at the same TCO, end‑of‑day risk analytics now run five times faster with daily primary risk calculations, liability matching accuracy improved, and the firm gained the agility to improve balance‑sheet performance and respond to market volatility — all enabled by Murex running on AWS.
