National Australia Bank Improves Performance by 30%, Delivers Agility and Growth Readiness by Migrating Murex MX.3 to AWS

National Australia Bank (NAB), one of Australia’s largest financial institutions, relied on Murex’s MX.3 platform for critical trading, risk, and post‑trade operations but found its on‑premises data centers inflexible and unable to meet growing computational and regulatory demands. To gain agility, scale for FRTB and new business initiatives, and improve performance, NAB engaged Murex (alongside AWS) to migrate MX.3 to the cloud.

Working with Murex, NAB moved MX.3 to AWS using Amazon RDS for Oracle, Amazon EC2 (including Spot and Reserved Instances), and automated DevOps and DR processes to modernize operations. As a result, NAB reported a 30% improvement in batch processing, zero outages since cutover, environment build times cut from 8–10 hours to 1 hour, recovery improved to 30 minutes, substantial cost reductions within three months, and broader scalability and reliability — outcomes achieved with Murex’s support.
