A Mural Case Study
California College of the Arts (CCA), a century-old art and design school serving nearly 2,000 students across San Francisco and Oakland, faced an urgent challenge in March 2020: move its hands-on, critique-driven curriculum fully online. To preserve real-time visual critiques, support diverse studio and lecture formats, and rapidly scale digital workspaces for thousands of students and hundreds of faculty, CCA adopted MURAL’s visual collaboration platform.
MURAL provided intuitive digital whiteboards, faculty workshops, and a structured instance organized by school divisions so instructors could quickly build and manage their own collaborative spaces. The result: rapid adoption with minimal IT overhead, continued interactive critiques and peer collaboration for nearly 2,000 students and hundreds of faculty, improved engagement and inclusivity through synchronous and asynchronous access, and ongoing use of MURAL across humanities, architecture, design, and fine arts.
