This Mountain View–based Fortune 1000 financial software provider serves 60 million small businesses, accounting professionals and consumers and integrates with 40% of the world’s banks. By 2008 the company’s disconnected architecture and slow IT processes were stifling innovation and product velocity, so it set out to service-enable applications and data, API-enable those services, and reorganize development into small agile teams.
The company implemented Mule ESB and MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform to create a service layer and easy-to-consume APIs for internal teams, mobile/web initiatives and third-party developers. The change dramatically sped development and scaled operations: customer base doubled from 30M to 60M, patents grew 10x, new APIs are built in hours instead of weeks, the platform processes ~85–90M transactions per day with 99.99% success, and recent product launches generated over $100M in revenue.
