The State of Colorado faced a significant challenge when it needed to build a new integrated health insurance marketplace in just six months to comply with the Affordable Care Act. Using MuleSoft's Anypoint Platform as an integration backbone, the state connected its Salesforce-based PEAK application with various federal and internal systems. This solution enabled real-time eligibility determinations, transforming a process that once took 45 days into one completed in a single session. MuleSoft's integration allowed the state to process over 277,000 applications in the first six months, double its application processing capacity without increasing its $30 million personnel budget, and achieve an estimated $5 million in savings.
