Enabling real-time inventory data to build a connected restaurant

Buffalo Wild Wings, a fast-growing sports‑bar chain with more than 1,200 locations, needed a better way to ensure its “Perfect Pour” standards were followed and to manage an expanding assortment of draft beers across restaurants. The company required real‑time pour and sales visibility and a way to automate adding new beer items to POS systems so managers could control inventory, reduce loss, and make faster merchandising and purchasing decisions. Buffalo Wild Wings partnered with BeerBoard, Capgemini and MuleSoft to tackle the challenge.

The solution combined BeerBoard’s IoT‑enabled flow meters and SmartBar beer‑management platform with MuleSoft Anypoint integrations (including automated ServiceNow ticketing and PLU creation) to match pour data with POS sales and provide real‑time dashboards. In an eight‑restaurant pilot the program produced double‑digit shrinkage reductions, recovered roughly 0.5% of beer revenue, delivered hourly sales visibility, eliminated keg‑weighing (cutting related workers’ comp costs by ~50%), and created a foundation for further automation such as auto‑replenishment.
