Case Study: SAXA achieves zero thermal rework with MSC Software

SAXA Inc., a developer of business phone systems and network equipment, needed a more reliable way to evaluate thermal issues as CPUs generated more heat and products became smaller and more complex. To reduce dependence on experience-based guesses and avoid redesigning completed products, SAXA turned to MSC Software’s thermo-fluid analysis tool, HeatDesigner, to support early-stage thermal design.

MSC Software’s HeatDesigner was selected for its accuracy, ease of use, and support, and SAXA built internal rules, checklists, and report formats to make CFD analysis part of everyday design work. With the tool in place, SAXA enabled 21 engineers to use thermal simulation regularly, caught issues earlier in the design cycle, and achieved zero production rework after test production within one year, eliminating costly mold changes and other last-minute fixes.
