Case Study: Saab shortens development time and balances NVH performance with MSC Software

Saab Automobile AB in Sweden used MSC Software’s MSC.Nastran and related SimOffice products as part of the development process for a new convertible. The company needed early structural dynamics and noise-and-vibration analysis to balance weight, safety, and NVH performance while improving collaboration between the NVH and chassis teams.

With MSC Software, Saab used design studies early in the cycle, shared models across departments, and ran structural dynamics, structural acoustics, frequency response, and optimization analyses. Saab said the approach helped shorten time-to-market, save at least one year of development time compared with 10 years earlier, and support a convertible project that went through more than 100 body iterations and even a 250% increase in static torsional stiffness.
