Kosme, a manufacturer of turnkey filling, labeling, capping, packaging and conveying solutions for beverage and personal care products, needed to design a bottle-boxing machine that could run much faster than previous models while avoiding vibration, resonance, and premature wear. Working with MSC Software, the team used MSC Nastran and MSC Adams to replace much of its hand-calculation and prototype-based approach with simulation-driven design.

MSC Software helped Kosme build detailed finite element and multibody simulation models to test component stress, stiffness, and dynamic behavior before prototyping. The approach reduced critical component mass by 20% to 30%, lowered vibration below the prior generation, and enabled a 50% increase in processing speed; the first prototype matched simulation results and the new machine was completed in just one and a half months.
