Keeping Missile Guidance Systems on Track

Draper Laboratory, a research and development organization in Cambridge, Massachusetts, faced the high cost and complexity of physically testing missile guidance systems. To support software validation and verification without building real devices, Draper Laboratory turned to MSC Software and its MSC.EASY5™ simulation platform to create a virtual product development environment for collaborative system simulation.

MSC Software’s MSC.EASY5 provided the GUI and infrastructure for Draper Laboratory’s model-based workflow, integrating tools and languages such as MATLAB/Simulink, FORTRAN, and C. The solution enabled faster, restartable simulations with detailed processor modeling, improved configuration control, and easier collaboration across teams; as a result, Draper Laboratory reduced simulation turnaround from a week or more to as little as eight hours.
