A MSC Software Case Study
ITW Delfast Group, a maker of plastic and metal fasteners for the automotive industry, needed a way to bring complex nonlinear finite element analysis to its design engineers. Working with MSC Software and its SimXpert product, the company sought to automate CAE processes such as model setup, analysis, and reporting so more designs could be evaluated earlier in the development process.
MSC Software implemented a SimXpert template that automated much of the simulation workflow, including part and property definition, meshing guidance, contact setup, load generation, analysis runs, and report creation. As a result, ITW Delfast reduced analysis time, lowered prototyping and tooling costs, and improved fastener performance by about 30% versus initial designs, helping engineers get designs right the first time.
