Harmonization at Bombardier brings Design and Analysis together

Bombardier, a rail industry leader, needed to harmonize design and structural analysis across sites after acquiring Adtranz, while also supporting a migration from CATIA V4 to CATIA V5. The company wanted a more consistent way to share methods, improve collaboration between designers and analysts, and meet a wide range of international and national testing and reporting requirements using MSC.Software tools such as MSC.Nastran, MSC.Patran, and MSC.MasterKey.

MSC.Software provided Bombardier with centralized, token-based MSC.MasterKey licensing for flexible access to its CAE software portfolio across all divisions. This helped Bombardier standardize analysis workflows, reduce physical prototyping and testing, and improve early-stage design validation. The results included stronger cross-site collaboration, easier movement of analysts between locations, and savings of 10 to 20 contractors per year, representing about 10% of the analysts’ human resource budget.
