Automating Vehicle Aerodynamics Simulations for Dierent Height Congurations

DOME Co., Ltd. needed a way to evaluate vehicle aerodynamics across different height configurations without building separate CFD models for each one. The company used MSC Software’s SC/Tetra and its VB Interface to support wind tunnel studies and automate the adjustments required for those height changes.

MSC Software’s VB Interface automatically updated the computer model for steady-state and transient simulations, including cases where vehicle height changed continuously. DOME Co., Ltd. reported that the tool let them evaluate aerodynamics during acceleration and deceleration, and the simulations showed changes in surface pressure, airflow, and downforce as front vehicle height decreased relative to the rear.
