A MSC Software Case Study
Worldwide Aeros Corp. needed to design the Aeroscraft, a revolutionary variable-buoyancy air vehicle with very demanding weight-efficiency requirements and complex structural loads. To meet this challenge, the company worked with MSC Software using Patran and MSC Nastran to create a finite element model and support structural optimization of the aerostructure.
MSC Software enabled Worldwide Aeros Corp. to model the internal and external frames, cables, canards, and empennages, and to use automatic inertia relief for realistic motion-load analysis without manually applying constraints. With MSC Nastran, the team optimized the structure, reduced weight while maintaining required safety factors, and completed the design faster than with traditional methods, saving substantial time and improving the final configuration.
