Adams/Machinery Predicts Results of Driveline Testing in Only Two Weeks

TürkTraktör, Turkey’s largest tractor producer, needed a way to evaluate new drivetrain designs before building prototypes. The company’s engine and powertrain durability tests could take several months, and if problems appeared during testing, the prototype had to be modified and retested. TürkTraktör selected MSC Software’s Adams simulation tool to help assess alternative designs earlier in the process.

Working with Bias Engineering, TürkTraktör built a dynamic powertrain model in Adams and validated it against a tractor already in production. MSC Software says the simulation matched physical test results closely for values such as torque and power, and the team concluded that a testing campaign that takes several months could be predicted with only two weeks of simulation. The faster, lower-cost approach was expected to let TürkTraktör evaluate more design alternatives and reduce the weight and cost of some parts while improving durability.
