Meritor used MSC Software’s Adams simulation tool to evaluate a new braking control strategy for anti-lock braking systems. The company wanted a way to improve truck stopping performance and meet stricter braking requirements without simply increasing brake size, weight, and cost.

MSC Software helped Meritor virtually test the new braking algorithm on a vehicle system-level model, integrating 1D control system software with Adams. The simulation showed the truck could stop in less than 4 seconds and in 177 feet, reducing stopping distance by over 30% while avoiding expensive prototype iterations.
