HIROC secures Canada’s largest claims database with M.R.S. Company

The Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) faced a challenge with its inefficient data warehousing system, which required significant IT support for reporting and hindered its ability to leverage its vast medical malpractice claims data. To support its strategic vision for improved patient safety, HIROC engaged M.R.S. Company to rearchitect its enterprise data warehouse using Microsoft SQL Server and enhance data security.

M.R.S. Company implemented a new data warehouse using a conformed dimensional model in SQL Server and a tabular model in SQL Server Analysis Services. The solution incorporated strict security via Microsoft Active Directory and empowered end-users to create their own reports using Microsoft Power BI. This eliminated the tedious manual reporting process, freed the IT department to focus on core tasks, and equipped HIROC to better mitigate risk for healthcare institutions.
