MPulse Asset Status Board Shifts Siemens’s Plant Communications into High Gear

Siemens Building Technologies’ Buffalo Grove plant—a 115,000 sq. ft. facility producing over 2 million components annually—had a small maintenance team managing more than 3,500 assets but no computerized maintenance system. The plant relied on an aging, inflexible color-coded “cell status” board and paper/Excel records, making real-time asset visibility, maintenance tracking, and lean-process improvements difficult.

Siemens implemented MPulse Gold and worked with MPulse to create the customizable Asset Status Board (ASB), integrating PM scheduling, work order management, inventory and training tracking, and automatic alerts. The ASB replaced the old board with single-screen visual status displays on shop monitors, drove PM completion to 100%, raised monthly work-order completion to 85–90%, streamlined communication, and improved maintenance planning and asset-replacement decisions.
