The Irish News Launches Digital Strategy with MPP Global and D-Share

The Irish News, a long-established regional paper with roughly 40,000 daily print readers, faced stagnant print and advertising revenues and an inflexible legacy infrastructure. To adapt to changing consumer habits and put eCommerce at the center of its strategy, the paper needed a modern, responsive website, a digital edition and a way to monetise online content while gaining deeper audience insight — becoming the first Northern Irish title to introduce a metered paywall.

Working with D-Share and MPP Global, the Irish News launched the Kolumbus CMS and integrated eSuite for identity management, CRM and eCommerce, enabling a responsive site, digital replica, metering controls, one‑click payments and a single customer view. The result was increased multi-device traffic, stronger registration and subscription conversion, international reach (including Australia and North America), and improved customer data and campaign targeting that support growing digital revenues.
