dmg media, publisher of The Daily Mail and MailOnline, needed a way to reimagine its printed newspaper for tablets and reliably monetise digital content across iPad, Android and Kindle devices. The challenge was to launch Mail Plus — a tablet-only, interactive edition — while supporting both single-edition and subscription sales, integrating with app stores (including iTunes), centralising customer data and deploying robust payment and entitlement controls.
dmg partnered with Adobe DPS for digital publishing and MPP Global’s eSuite for CRM and eCommerce. The integrated solution delivered PCI-compliant payment processing (multiple methods), single sign-on, entitlement checks, and a unified customer database with self-service and advanced revenue analytics, all deployed in about three months. The result: rapid market launch, improved monetisation across platforms, tailored offers to boost ARPU, and support for MailOnline’s large audience (126 million unique users in January) as digital revenue growth outpaces print.
