National Garden Supply Distributor Saves Over $1.4M With Mobile Inventory Management

National Garden Supply Distributing Company, a North American garden supplier serving up to 8,000 retail locations including Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart, faced time-consuming, error-prone manual audits to manage expiring grass seed and relabeling. To automate and trace shelf‑life management, they partnered with Movista and deployed Movista’s mobile inventory and retail execution tools (Inventory Manager and mobile app).

Movista implemented Bluetooth barcode scanning, in‑store wireless printing, BYOD mobile workflows and modules like Scheduling Optimization and Retail Audits to provide real‑time item status, cut store visits in half and remove much of the back‑office relabeling work. The solution produced about $1.4M in annual savings — $960K in field labor, $240K in shipping reductions and $240K in administrative labor — while improving compliance and store responsiveness.
