How Altabank Broke Through an Engagement Plateau with Visible Recognition

Altabank, a Utah- and Idaho-based financial services company with about 360 employees, had spent years rebuilding culture after growth, acquisition, and expansion made it harder for employees to feel connected. Its employee Net Promoter Score fell to -14 in 2020, then recovered only to a plateau in the 12–17 range, while recognition remained inconsistent and engagement insights came mostly from annual surveys.

In March 2024, Altabank launched Motivosity for employee recognition and engagement, choosing a social, easy-to-use platform with real-time feedback and visible recognition. The first month brought more than 800 recognitions, up from a typical 30 to 50 and a previous high of about 400, and eNPS rose to a consistent 35–40. Altabank also reported better cross-team connection, a decrease in turnover, and clearer insight for HR and leaders through Motivosity’s dashboard.
