Tri-Pol Enterprises, a Calgary-based dry van fleet of 30, faced a proposed 45% insurance renewal despite a long clean record. Communication and safety manager Stacy Hill adopted Motive’s Smart Dashcam and DRIVE Safety Score to collect objective driver and vehicle data for coaching and to demonstrate safety improvements to insurers.

Using Motive’s dashcam footage and DRIVE scores, Hill targeted harsh braking and delivered focused coaching — one driver improved from a hard-braking event every 500 km to every 2,500 km in a week, and the fleet saw a 13.75% increase in distance between harsh braking events. Presenting this data to the insurer reduced the planned premium increase from 45% to 17%, while enabling ongoing data-driven coaching, policy enforcement and safer hiring decisions.
