A Motive Case Study
Miller Expedited Freight, Inc., a family-owned general freight carrier in Indianapolis with a 23-truck fleet, faced challenges from having no in-cab recording system: management had to rely on imperfect driver reports after incidents, drivers were initially resistant to cameras, and the company wanted a cost-effective way to reduce disputes and improve safety. To address this, Miller piloted the Motive Smart Dashcam integrated with the Motive ELD to evaluate how video could protect drivers and the business.
Motive installed a single Smart Dashcam and ELD integration across vehicles as a pilot, and the video footage quickly delivered measurable benefits: managers identified hazardous loading docks and stopped sending tractors there, and targeted coaching based on footage reduced a driver’s hard braking and hard acceleration events. The Motive solution improved driver buy-in, provided digital proof to limit legal and insurance exposure, delivered strong ROI potential, and earned praise for responsive customer support.
