Motive worked with Salt River Project (SRP), a major Arizona utility company, to address the dangerous challenge of training new employees to locate underground utilities near busy roadways. The task was difficult to replicate safely in the real world and required extensive one-on-one supervision, creating risk for uninitiated workers and a significant workload for trainers.

The solution implemented by Motive was a custom VR training program built on the Motive Training Platform. It consisted of four modules that immersed trainees in true-to-life environments of increasing complexity, from a residential road to a high-traffic highway. This allowed employees to safely practice the procedure and build confidence. The solution provided consistent training, decreased the supervisory workload, and enabled SRP to assess employee performance. Motive also equipped SRP to update and create their own scenarios using the platform for future scaling.
