Urban Outfitters, a lifestyle retailer with a strong online presence and hundreds of stores across North America and Europe, re-evaluated its European strategy in 2010 as regional growth accelerated. The company needed a way to translate and localize its website for key markets—driving web sales, increasing brand awareness and in-store traffic—while preserving the brand’s distinctive voice and avoiding slow, costly IT work.

Urban Outfitters partnered with MotionPoint to launch localized German and French sites; MotionPoint maintained the brand’s tone and required minimal IT changes, delivering both sites in three months just ahead of the holidays. The localized sites have seen strong growth, the approach was extended to other brands (Anthropologie and Free People) and markets, and Urban Outfitters continues to work with MotionPoint as it expands globally.
