Vermont Health Care Provider Solves Backup, Replication, and Tape Problems with Mosaic and Avamar

Rutland Regional Medical Center, a Vermont health care provider with 1,500 users, was struggling with slow backups, tape management overhead, and the need to prove disaster recovery capabilities for its SAN and distributed servers. Mosaic Technology stepped in to help evaluate the environment and address both backup and replication challenges, using Avamar’s Axion solution.

Mosaic Technology implemented Avamar Axion for disk-based backup and recovery, along with Replicator for WAN-efficient DR replication. The result was a centralized, restorable backup system that cut backup time from up to 12 hours to under one hour, simplified restores to a browser-based point-and-click process, and enabled replication to a second site over the internet while saving RRMC more than $350,000.
