A Mosaic Technology Case Study
MCPHS University, a Boston-based health sciences institution with three campuses and over 5,000 students, needed to improve access to research and applications while managing increasingly complex desktop and disaster recovery demands. Its small IT team was spending valuable summer downtime on lengthy system updates, and the college needed a more scalable, reliable way to support students and faculty across campus. Mosaic Technology worked with MCPHS University to assess the network and plan a more efficient approach using virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and disaster recovery solutions.
Mosaic Technology implemented VMware View-based VDI along with Dell EqualLogic storage and a new disaster recovery environment, testing everything in Mosaic’s own facility before deployment to ensure production readiness. The result was 500 virtual desktops across three campuses, streamlined data center operations, faster IT response times, lower infrastructure and support costs, and improved access to applications and information for students and teachers. Mosaic Technology also helped build confidence in handling larger workloads and laid the groundwork for future thin-client and Windows 7 VDI rollout.
