Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority - Customer Case Study

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) faced a significant security challenge, as lost or stolen keys used to access fare box cash vaults created vulnerability to theft and necessitated costly lock replacements. Their previous method of storing keys in a desk drawer with paper forms for tracking was unreliable. SEPTA required a durable, tamper-proof key control system that could also accommodate their uniquely large, heavy bullet keys. Morse Watchmans provided the solution with their KeyWatcher key control system and KeyPro performance software.

Morse Watchmans implemented a custom solution featuring rugged KeyWatcher cabinets, including specially designed lockers for the bullet keys, and management software for remote access and detailed reporting. The system, which now secures all of SEPTA's keys across 15 locations, reliably tracks approximately 480 transactions on an average weekday. This has given management precise control over key access, drastically reducing their exposure to theft and providing excellent value. Morse Watchmans won the contract through a competitive bid process and was responsive to SEPTA's custom needs.
