Design Flexibility of Morse Watchmans KeyWatcher® System Enables Customized Application for University of California San Francisco

The University of California San Francisco (UCSF), a top-tier institution with four campuses and nearly 20,000 employees, faced a significant challenge in managing and securing keys for its more than 30,000 doors. To bring order to this large-scale operation and prevent the potential for lost or duplicated keys, they turned to Morse Watchmans and its KeyWatcher key control and management system.

Morse Watchmans implemented a highly customized solution, networking over 25 KeyWatcher cabinets to a central server and modifying the system to work with UCSF's proprietary identification key cards instead of keypads. This provided secure, centralized control and real-time auditing. The system reliably manages thousands of custom key rings, with keys being accessed hundreds of times daily. The solution eliminated security concerns and provided such dependable audit trails that other departments use the reports to verify staff time and attendance.
