Wagamama cuts 300 tonnes of virgin plastic with Morrama

Wagamama sought to improve the sustainability of its takeaway packaging without compromising customer experience or operational functionality. The company engaged design and innovation consultancy Morrama to tackle this challenge, specifically aiming to eliminate virgin plastic from its supply chain.

Morrama redesigned the packaging using CPET, a material containing 70% recycled PET. This switch, which required over 20 design variations to ensure structural integrity for hot food, cut 300 tonnes of virgin plastic from Wagamama's supply chain. The new packaging range is fully recyclable and also improved food quality and operational efficiency for the restaurant.
