Phoenix redesigns TELA with Morrama using 30% recycled polycarbonate

The customer, Phoenix, a planet-conscious luggage brand, approached the design and innovation agency Morrama for engineering updates to its existing TELA suitcase. The founder, Francesco Salom, sought to reimagine the product range to appeal to a new, younger audience and future-proof the design.

Morrama undertook a significant redesign of the luggage after uncovering a patent infringement on the original. The solution included a unique, full-width handle for better control and a patented locking system for easy disassembly and repair. The aesthetics were inspired by an artist's canvas, featuring a blank front and a bespoke textured shell. Morrama engineered the case using materials like poly-carbonate with 30% recycled content and 100% recycled nylon textiles, prioritizing durability and circularity. The result is the TELA 2.0, a robust, repairable suitcase that serves as a canvas for expression and strengthens the Phoenix brand narrative.
