Maya Packaging cuts plastic use by up to 98% with Morrama

Morrama partnered with Maya Packaging, a self-initiated project, to address the significant sustainability challenge within the beauty industry, where 95% of cosmetic packaging is thrown away. The challenge was to create a viable alternative to single-use packaging and reduce the sector's heavy reliance on plastics.

The solution was the Maya range, a first-of-its-kind, refillable packaging system for cosmetics designed by Morrama in collaboration with manufacturer PPK. The range includes lipstick, makeup palettes, and pumps, with refills made primarily from compostable paper pulp. This innovation has been adopted by brands like Wild, leading to a reduction of up to 98% in plastic compared to other refill systems and providing a path towards a carbon-neutral supply chain for beauty brands.
