Tennessee Boys State First Hybrid Event in MootUp

Tennessee Tech University, in partnership with the Tennessee Boys State program, faced the challenge of moving its highly interactive, week-long government simulation for students online during the pandemic. The program required a virtual platform that could replicate in-person campaigning, debates, and camaraderie without requiring software downloads, which was a major barrier for attendees using personal devices. They turned to the vendor MootUp for a solution.

MootUp provided a no-download, browser-based virtual event platform that featured 3D avatars, live audio conversations, and separate interactive rooms to facilitate engagement. The solution enabled a successful hybrid event that achieved an 85% retention rate, which organizers stated was equal to their in-person attendance. Both students and counselors praised the platform for its ease of use and its ability to foster genuine relationships and streamline operations like vote tallying.
