Case Study: Tokio Marine America improves exposure data quality and underwriting confidence with Moody’s Analytics

A Moody's Analytics Case Study

Preview of the Tokio Marine America Case Study

Ensuring Data Quality that Meets Exacting Underwriting Standards

Tokio Marine America (TMA), a U.S. commercial property and casualty insurer, required the highest quality exposure data to meet its rigorous underwriting standards. To maintain this data quality, TMA partnered with Moody’s RMS and its Managed Client Services and Analytical Services teams to analyze and improve a specific property account portfolio.

Moody’s RMS conducted a Data Quality Index assessment, identified critical data gaps, and used sources like its Industry Exposure Database to enhance the information. The data’s quality score was raised to exceed TMA's minimum standard. This resulted in a 12% reduction in ground-up losses for combined perils and a 22% increase in the account’s total insured value, enabling TMA to make faster, more informed underwriting and reinsurance decisions.
