A Montrium Case Study
Company X, an international pharmaceutical company that recently doubled in size through acquisition, faced the challenge of consolidating controlled-document environments (their acquired business used Documentum while Company X had informal SharePoint use) and establishing an enterprise-wide records management standard. Montrium, which had been working with Company X since 2007 and had an existing SharePoint-based Records Management Application, was asked to evaluate and recommend a solution to replace Documentum and provide a maintainable, user-friendly enterprise content management approach.
Montrium implemented its SharePoint-based Records Management Application using a structured methodology of workshops, a standardized file plan (over 900 document types), process mapping, qualification against 21 CFR Part 11 and Annex 11, automated configuration and a prioritized migration plan. The solution was deployed and validated in about six months, enabling Company X to decommission Documentum, reduce ECM total cost of ownership, standardize taxonomy and workflows company-wide, and run regulated and non-regulated content across Legal, QA, Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Operations in North America and Europe.
