Domino’s Pizza turns manual layout into keyboard typing with Monotype, earning TDC Certificate of Excellence

The customer Domino's Pizza, along with their agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, needed a contemporary typeface to complement their existing Trade Gothic font. They commissioned the vendor Monotype to create this new typography to modernize their brand identity across various applications.

Monotype designer Terrance Weinzierl created the modular Pizza Press typeface, which could be stacked in multiple ways to ease the design process. The solution simplified a previously labor-intensive task into something as simple as typing, and it was successfully deployed in packaging, signage, and TV spots. The Monotype typeface also won a TDC Certificate of Excellence in typeface design in 2014.
