Improving Student Communication with Texting

Carroll University needed a better way to reach today’s students, who prefer texting over email, phone calls, or direct mail. Working with Mongoose and its texting platform, Mongoose Cadence, the university looked for a more effective, human way to start and sustain conversations across the student lifecycle.

Mongoose helped Carroll University implement texting for recruiting, admissions, financial aid, retention, surveys, athletics, and alumni engagement, with opt-in opportunities built into forms, visits, emails, and letters. The results were strong: Carroll reported about a 30% yield for students who texted versus 20% for non-texters, and it found that 10 texts produced nearly five quality contacts, making outreach far more efficient and effective.
