Zuberance - Customer Case Study

Zuberance is a social media marketing platform that helps brands identify and mobilize highly satisfied customers to generate referral leads and improve online reputation. They needed real-time campaign performance analytics—something their relational database plus Java queries and a MapReduce sync to MongoDB could not deliver at scale. After testing alternatives, Zuberance selected MongoDB for its ability to scale the persistence layer, reliably store large volumes of data, and support real-time aggregation.

Building their self-serve SaaS product entirely on MongoDB (beta launched April 2012) let Zuberance store identity, action-tracking, and semantic data in a flexible schema and deliver live campaign reports so marketers can adjust campaigns on the fly. The switch delivered operational and scalability wins: engineers ramped quickly, replica sets were trivial to manage, MongoDB diagnostics resolved production issues, and support costs fell to about 5% of the prior $250k DBA expense. The platform is expected to scale to tens of thousands of customers and 10x the number of enterprise Brand Advocates, with full enterprise feature parity planned by 2013.
