The Leaf in the Wild Razorfish, Yonderbound & MongoDB

Razorfish partnered with Yonderbound to build a socially shareable, mobile-first global travel marketplace — a greenfield platform managing nearly 400,000 hotels and user‑generated “Yonderboxes” (photos, bookmarks, notes, reviews). The challenge was to deliver quickly and iterate rapidly while handling a mix of structured and unstructured operational and analytics data, strong location‑awareness needs, and growing traffic and feature requirements.

Razorfish selected MongoDB for its flexible schema, rich geospatial features, simple replication and sharding, and strong ecosystem support. The result was faster development cycles with no object mapping, continuous availability, hidden replicas for reporting, and confidence to scale as usage grows — enabling rapid feature delivery and efficient handling of bookings, profiles and analytics across the Yonderbound platform.
