A MongoDB Case Study
Ogilvy & Mather, a global marketing communications firm with more than 500 offices, faced a growing security and compliance challenge: capture and audit authentication and authorization activity from tens of thousands of users worldwide. Their write-heavy auditing app was ingesting tens of gigabytes per day, and their relational database could not scale or deliver consistent low-latency access across continents.
Ogilvy rebuilt the audit platform on MongoDB Enterprise Advanced, deploying a sharded, geo-distributed cluster with active/active data centers and tag-aware sharding so events are written locally and read globally. Using the aggregation pipeline for real-time analytics and Enterprise support/tools for operations, they achieved scalable ingestion, near real-time reporting on live data, and the cross-continent performance and availability required for compliance — with further gains planned via upgrades to WiredTiger and encrypted storage.
